FAQs: Live Event Painting

  • A live wedding painting is a one-of-a-kind artwork created in real time during your event. I arrive early, begin painting the scene on-site, and capture the emotion, setting, and essence of your special moment as it unfolds.

  • When you invest in a live event artist, you’re receiving far more than just a beautiful painting—you’re investing in a one-of-a-kind experience. As I paint in real time, guests are drawn in by the process, watching your special moment unfold on canvas. It becomes an interactive, elegant form of entertainment that adds depth and meaning to your event.

Behind the final artwork is careful planning, years of skill, travel, setup, and hours of painting both on-site and in-studio. The finished piece is a custom heirloom, made with heart and intention—not mass-produced or duplicated, but created solely for you.

It’s a memory captured not just in paint, but in presence. And that’s something truly priceless.

  • I will typically open my books a year in advance. I am a planner at heart so if you have your event planned more than a year out or your event requires traveling etc. please do still reach out and I will be happy to talk through details and see if your date will work!

  • If I am booked the day of your event already, I do take a handful of studio commissions based off of the professional photos of your event. If you are interested in this option, please fill out the contact form under “commissioned paintings” on the services page and we can discuss timing and pricing.

  • Most couples choose a key moment like the first kiss, first dance, or ceremony scene. We’ll work together beforehand to select the moment that’s most meaningful to you.

  • Typically, the painting is complete by the end of the event. Sometimes I will require more time in studio after the event for touchups due to the painting size, details, event timing, and guest interactions. If this happens, I take the piece back to my studio to refine details and add finishing touches before delivering the final artwork to you.

  • I generally paint on-site for 5–10 hours, depending on the scene and complexity. I also arrive early to set up and begin painting the background before guests arrive.

  • I offer a variety of sizes depending on your vision and budget. Popular sizes range from 16x20" to 24x30", but custom sizes are available upon request.

  • I primarily use acrylic paint for live events—it dries quickly and is ideal for layered, expressive work. If you’re interested in another medium (like watercolor or oil), we can discuss that as a custom option.

  • Absolutely! Many guests enjoy watching the painting come to life throughout the event. It adds a unique and interactive element to your celebration.

  • Yes! I love including meaningful touches and symbols in your painting like pets or key guests. Just let me know in advance what’s important to you.

  • If the painting is finished on site, you can take it home with you that evening! If the painting requires some studio time, final delivery typically takes 4–6 weeks after your wedding. This allows time for studio refinements, and drying.

  • Yes! I’m based in eastern Wisconsin, but I’m happy to travel. Travel fees and hotel stays may apply depending on the distance and location. I am also available to travel internationally. Let’s discuss your event and make it happen!

  • Yes—it makes a truly unforgettable gift for a partner, couple, or family member. I’m happy to work with planners or loved ones to keep it a surprise if needed!

  • If I am available for the date of your event, I require a 30% non-refundable down payment to secure your date/spot. The remaining amount is due 1-2 weeks prior to the event.

  • If something happens outside of my control day of the event with travel delays, sickness, etc. I will happily refund you the cost of the item. We can also discuss custom portrait options where I paint from a photo you choose from the event should you still be interested in a keepsake from your day.

FAQs: Live Guest Portraits

  • Live guest portraits are quick, fashion-inspired sketches created on-site during your event. Each guest receives a watercolor and ink illustration of themselves as a stylish keepsake.

  • They’re inspired by fashion sketches—elegant, expressive, and slightly stylized rather than photo-realistic. The focus is on capturing the personality, gesture, and mood in a chic, artistic way.

  • Most portraits take about 5–10 minutes per person, depending on the level of detail and the flow of the event.

  • This depends on the total event time and how many portraits are requested. On average, 20–34 portraits can be completed in a 3-hour period. For larger events, the Silhouette or Signature packages are recommended.

  • I use high-quality watercolor paper, watercolor paints, and archival ink pens to ensure each portrait is long-lasting and frame-worthy.

  • For most events, I will complete the amount of portraits called out in your specific package on site for your guests to take home. Should time run out, I will complete the portraits in studio and mail them to the bride and groom or event coordinator for distribution of the remaining portraits.

  • Just a small table and two chairs in a well-lit area is all I need. I bring all art supplies and a table cloth to protect the table surface.

  • Live guest portraits are perfect for weddings, parties, showers, brand activations, galas, and corporate events—anywhere you want to add a touch of art and delight.
